UEFA Announced 2019 The Best Player in Europe

UEFA Released 2018/2019 Best Player in Europe nominees.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has officially announced the 2018/2019 Player of the Year, the Association earlier released a 10 Men shortlist as the nominees and has now brought up the official list of nominees.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Virgil Van Dijk has been officially selected by a jury composed of 80 coaches of the clubs which participated in the group stages of the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, together with fifty-five (55) journalists from each of UEFA’s 55 member associations, selected by the European Sports Media (ESM) group.

The Final winner among the three men shortlist to be decided on Thursday 29, August 2019 in Monaco together with the UEFA Champions League Draw ceremony.

Both Ronaldo and Messi have been nominated for the award before and has won the award on more occasions than any other player since it inception, Cristiano Ronaldo has the upper hand with nine (9) Nominations (including this year) and wins on 3 occasions, his closest rival Lionel Messi have been nominated Six (6) times and has won it on two occasions and he also the first winner of the award.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence in this year’s last three means the Portuguese has made it to the last three men shortlist on every occasion since the award was introduced in 2011.
